Let dt(e) be the “dwell time” required for an event “e”.
I propose that most or all events in life are in the domain of the function dt. Moreover, I postulate that, to a certain degree, a person’s success in modern society depends on their particular definition of dt as it is fit to his or her own life. In other words, there is an optimal curve for the definition of dt, that if followed will yield the greatest efficiency and success with contingent events that follow.
If one falls short of the optimal dt, one is cold-hearted and detatched. On the other side, one will be vulnerable, weak, and inefficient. It is a skill to hone one’s definition of the funtion dt to facilitate the most efficient processing of events that one will encounter in life.
