Dirtbike riding is great. My dad and my grandpa before him are veteran riders with decades of experience and stories, but I have still managed to get a fair amount of riding time in. I have a 1990 (I think) Yamaha YZ-250, motocross equipped. That means that it’s much lighter than a normal bike and it doesn’t have a built-in kickstand. Anyway, due to a repeated request, I will elaborate a bit on the joys of dirtbike riding.
The earliest I remember riding motorcycles was up at my grandpa’s house in La Grange, CA. He had a ’60s or ’70s Honda 50cc trail bike. It was small, fun, and we logged an incredible amount of hours on that thing. I remember riding past sunset, wanting to make just “one more loop” around the air strip.
Later on my dad bought my cousin’s 1983 Honda CR-60 for me. It was the first bike I rode that had a clutch and it was fast. I spent many years on the 60 learning the basics of dirtbike riding at Drinkwater Flats, Texas Canyon, and Sacatar Ranch.
Eventually I grew too big for the 60 and had to borrow other bikes when we went out. I borrowed my aunt’s Honda XR-200 a few times as well as my stepmom’s KX-175. Then my dad got me my current YZ-250 from my uncle. It’s much faster and much more my size. I’ve had limited but fruitful experience on the YZ and will continue to ride it when I have the chance.
Anyway, I highly recommend dirtbike riding as a recreational activity to anyone that enjoys the outdoors and going fast.
P.S. My wheels are not fake.

Its a 1990 YZ250. I didn’t think you had it in you.
