Every so often in life there’s a situation where it seems like someone’s just laughing at you while you’re trying to juggle the mess that is your life. I was browsing a very cool site that collects job listings and presents them in a Google-like fashion: SimplyHired. Being the JavaScript/(X)HTML/CSS/PHP/Linux nerd that I am, I searched for any such job in San Diego for kicks. I was a bit startled when I saw The Listing.
Not only am I perfectly qualified for everything the job demands, I am involved in open-source projects, I create projects of my own in this area all the time, and it’s in my city! There are only a few minor problems; nay, conditions.
- Earlier this year I secured an internship as a Software Developer Intern at Amazon.com. I leave for their Seattle headquarters after finals this quarter (June 18) and will stay all summer. This is a great opportunity and I’m not about to give it up.
- I already have a comfortable job in San Diego now and waiting for me when I get back from Seattle. It’s a small company and I have a great deal of loyalty.
- Although it’s a lesser concern that could probably be worked around, I have one more year of school left at UCSD to complete my double major and receive two Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics-Computer Science and Philosophy.
At times like these I wish I could put the rest of my life on hold to pursue an option. I think I would fit in very well over at EVDB and I think I could do great things for them. Not only that, but I think their startup has a lot of potential and will likely grow to great proportions.
I sincerely wish I could help them out and make some history in the process, but my previous commitments are holding me back for now. Perhaps we’ll see where the chips fall when I return from Seattle in the fall or when I graduate next spring.
C’est la vie

Mmmmmmmmm… chips… :P~

The use of two clichés is hardly excessive and the meaning was in no way confused, flat, or muddled.
Now let’s agree that there is merit to systems not based on completely free reign and moral correctness.
