The New Jetta

Thursday, June 2, 2005

If I were going to sum up the new Jetta in a single word, it would be uninspired.

I think VW’s design team completely ruined the uniqueness of the Jetta with the new design, which has a frightening resemblance to the Toyota Corolla and/or Nissan Sentra. It makes me sad. Observe:

Jetta:

Corolla:

But even more saddening is the rear:

Jetta:
Jetta rear

Sentra:

Where did all of that unique and neat VW styling go? VW’s design engineers need to spend a little bit less time in Tokyo and more time in Germany fixing this tragedy.

Corolla? That last picture is a Nissan Sentra.

Hah, so it is. Someone labelled it incorrectly and it got picked up by my Google Images search. Clever modifications have taken place to accomodate. Thanks.

I don’t really prefer one over the other. They’re both about equally unique in terms of styling. Still wrong wheel drive, though.

Looks more like an A4 than anything else, of course.

I thought I was the only one that felt this way, have had a love affair w/Jetta for years, now it is indistinguishable. - shaking my head-
