So I’m leaving San Diego and Eventful to join a startup in Berkeley and work on Project Agape. Instead of trying to regurgitate my own elevator pitch on what they do, I’ll let them say it (get your buzzword bingo card out):
The goal of all this is what we call “equal opportunity activism.” We’re trying to level the playing field by empowering individuals to change the world. Existing nonprofits must raise hundreds of millions of dollars and leverage massive direct marketing campaigns to attract members. We’re democratizing activism by empowering activists with an arsenal of tools for users of Facebook who want to leverage their network on Facebook to effect positive change.
It’s a pretty big change and one I see working out for the better. I’ve seen a move to the Bay Area as imminent for a while now, so this takes the uncertainty out of the timeframe at least. We’ll be living in Walnut Creek, just a few BART stops away from work and The City; so we’re pretty happy about that.
I will have more to say once the move is complete and things are under way.

A big change indeed, but you seem to be rather positive about it, which is generally a pretty good way to start. Best of luck to both of you! (Have fun packing and unpacking.)
Amusingly enough, I’m almost certainly going to be at San Jose State starting in FA08, so we’ll be sorta’ neighbors again. Who knows, maybe some day we’ll be coworkers again, too? :)
Walnut Creek is a beautiful city, I’ve had friends live out there. It’s great that you’ve found such a promising job, and I wish nothing but the best for you, congratulations!
Exciting! Let me know how things turn out, and I’ll let you know where I end up next year (after I finish my MEng)
Wow! Take jackets! I’ll be sad to have you guys so far away but I’m glad that it’s a good change! Good luck!
Congrats on the new job, and good luck on the move.
I’ll be at VMware in Palo Alto next summer. See you then :D
o.o Wow, I live literally on the border of walnut creek and concord.
Yay, people who know what the real name of the city is. :D
Good luck with the move~! Let me know where you end up and I’ll visit you when I come home to visit my folks.
